More Bogle...

After I finish phantom I moved onto something I was very excited about - their Petit Syrah Port. It's light for a port but that's a good thing - it's very Petit Syrah with almost a delicate flavor of the grape - as if it's lighter than the wine but strong like a port in it's underpinnings. You can taste the port "below" the wine if that makes any sense at all?

phantom

This is a very cool wine. It's "a blend of old vine Zinfandel, Petite Sirah (Yeah!) and old vine Mourvedre (huh?)". It's also super cool that they used the version number "v" in the age: "v.2004" - that gets extra points from Gizmodo type folks.

I'm really into strange blends and phantom delivers in a sense that the first bottle was amazing - by the third it might have been too hot (um, Miami's fault) it was passe. But definitely something to try if you are like me and like the dry, full bodied type of wines. Highly recommended.

Marcus James Merlot 2006

This is a Mendoza wine which is a very cheap Merlot (Google it...) yet if Merlot is your thing it's actually very Merlot. Very Merlot. I don't like Merlot's that are Merlot-y - but if you like Merlot-y Merlot's you'll be set. I drank it and I swore I'd write about it.

Left Hand Porter

My last post was "after a long haitus" so I can't really comment about that even though it is now a year and a half later. I'm currently searching for a good Porter. Why? Because I remember drinking Yuengling's Porter at Mont Serrat in Philadelphia years ago while dining on Spinach burgers. For me, this porter is a combination of wine and beer with the positive qualities of both. Ironically they are from PA where I was for a bit and ironically you can't get it in Florida. Like a lot of things - but I digress.

I haven't had much luck unpublished - and now, on a mission, I intend to write about my attempts and restart this blog a bit.

My first attempt (published) is Left Hand Brewing Company's Porter. No - it is not Yuengling's odd balance between beer and wine - it's more the typical porter that turns out to be almost what I'd call a chocolate wine. It's like a dark chocolate Muscat. A French-American with a sweet tooth. Not to say it's not a stable beer (or a staple) - it's a good flavor - not too much - just enough kind of beer - but still beer. A nice heavy, dark beer with, um, a touch of chocolate. And not too sweet or too much on the flavor.

I'd definitely buy again if I food the mood for it. Which happened to be pork ribs this time around and it did truly work.

After a long Haitus...

While drinking wine fresh from Argentina I haven't explored much, but notice that one of my daily sites, Uncrate is a bit curious about favorite wines. Are they cheap? Well, one guy likes Silver Oaks... Lots of Oregonians too... Weird. ;)

Finca Gabriel Malbec Roble

After saying I hate Malbec's I found one. But you can't buy it in this country... ;)

Gizmodo is talking about us!

Well they referred to "drunken friends" in their post about the Vinturi Wine Aerator (do you think they are Italian?). I'll let them tell the story and you can jump to the product page from there - after being entertained by the comments, of course... (What a great picture!)
